Lick The Beaker is a series of creative projects that each have their own theme and cover an area of research and development I am deeply interested in. Each Lick The Beaker takes about 3 months and ends with me sending out a box of interesting products I've created, honed and produced along the lines of the theme.

For this new LTB I am extraordinarily excited to announce an entire Lick The Beaker revolving around fine fragrance!

Lately my passion for perfumery has exploded, especially since my recent trip to Thailand and Perfumers World. I've been rabidly consuming books on perfumery and the chemistry of fragrance creation and experimenting with all my new perfume materials like crazy.

I've been making natural perfumes for years now and have always included a bottle in each of the past LTBs. Now it's time to get serious!

This Lick The Beaker (LTB.6) is going to work a bit different in the way it's delivered and the way it's sold.

In a few months (June/July-ish) I will send out the first of 2 packages which will contain small samples of each fragrance I'm working on (3-5). Sample and wear each fragrance a few times and get to know how each one evolves over time.

Choose your top two fragrances from those samples and a month later I will send out your final LTB.6 package. It will include a large bottle of your first choice, a small bottle of your second choice and a smattering of matching, fragrant accoutrements that go with each scent composition.

Besides using my natural absolutes and oils, I'll be using synthetic aromatic molecules as well. Many of them occur naturally but are created synthetically en masse to preserve many of the natural resources. Extraction from natural plants/flowers/wood requires an insane amount of biomaterial to produce a pittance of oil, depleting natural resources faster than the demand for perfumes can sniff it up.

Some of the molecules I'll be using are completely novel and synthetic, most designed by a handful of a handful of the worldwide fragrance houses. All the aromatic molecules I use are approved by the International Fragrance Association (IFRA).
