Scurvy Dog is high potency vitamin C serum along with other supporting and stabilizing antioxidants; vitamin E, ferulic acid and caffeine crystals. The blue butterfly version is naturally purple and contains high levels of antioxidants from blue butterfly pea flowers I brought back from Thailand.
Vitamin C is hands down the most effective antioxidant in skincare that provides a myriad of benefits like lightening dark spots, building collagen and offering pollution protection and photoprotection.
And for extra brightening badassery, I've included pure glycyrrhetinic acid extracted from licorice.
Scurvy Dog might take a little getting used to, as the pH has to be less than 3.5 for the vitamin C to protonate into the dermis so it might tingle the first week of use.
Ascorbic acid sits (with a half-life of 4 days) as a powerful reserve of antioxidants that neutralize free radicals from pollution, UV rays, smoke etc. Your skin will likely "use up" portions of this antioxidant reserve every day, so make sure to re-up your vitamin C regularly. (I personally use 2 pumps of Scurvy Dog every morning and some nights).
After applying Scurvy Dog, your skin will be a bit tacky for a few minutes while it's absorbing. When your skin is fairly dry and smooth, your skin has absorbed everything and you can move on to the next step.
NOTE - If you do the next step before the vitamin C has fully absorbed, you run the risk of increasing the pH of your skin to over 3.5 which will block any remaining vitamin C absorption.
Morning / Optional at Night
Apply 2 pumps evenly across entire face, allow 3-5 minutes to fully absorb until proceeding to the next step in the routine.
